Silver Greek Athena Owl Coin Pendant

The owl is a prominent figure on the earliest known coins and has become synonymous with ancient coinage. These coins, minted within 100 years of the very first coins in the world, are among those earliest coins minted in Athens. As well as those which feature Athena, the Goddess of Athens, and the owl which is said to be her favorite animal. The owl can be seen to be set into an "incuse square", which is one of the identifying marks of early coins. Each piece is hand made and fitted to the coin. These coins are in exceptional condition for the period of time in which they were created.
